A small, friendly community with a population of 264 nestled in the Northern Minnesota wilderness, alongside the scenic Bigfork River, 40 miles south of International Falls. Big Falls is part of the K-12 education system of the Littlefork-Big Falls school district 362.

The main industry in the community is logging which supplies the local forest products company, Page & Hill, and other area mills in International Falls, Grand Rapids, Bemidji and surrounding areas.

Their main street district offers a variety of essential services including: TruStar Federal Credit Union, Northland Medical Clinic, Dr. Taylor DDS and a library all located in the Community Building, L.B. Foods Grocery, Gorden's Hardware and Gifts, the Big Falls Municipal Liquor Store, the 671 Café and Promersberger's Convenience store. High speed internet is available.

Recreational amenities include the Big Falls City Campground and Horse Camp located on the Big Fork River. This full service campground has hot showers and bathroom facilities, electrical and water hookups available. While there take time to explore the Big Fork River by contacting Rivers North Outfitters who have kayaks and canoes available for rent. Try some fishing or just relax listening to the therapeutic sounds of rushing water on day trips or overnight at a number of river campsites. The community is conveniently connected to The Blue Ox ATV trail system, as well as a regional snowmobile trail.
