KEDA Update

Greetings from Voyageur Country! We are in the shank of summer, enjoying some of the best weather in the country - long warm days, cool evenings - reinforcing the notion that we are fortunate to live, work, and retire here. No wildfires, hurricanes or drought to deal with. And for many, this time is a draw for tourists to enjoy the replenishing power of Rainy Lake, Voyageurs National Park, the Littlefork, Bigfork and Rainy Rivers.

VILLAGE OF RANIER TO CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL

The Village of Ranier marked its centennial birthday earlier this year, and to celebrate is planning an old time Founder's Day Celebration on August 16th. In typical Ranier fashion, "There will be something for everyone - including the dogs," according to Centennial Chair Diane Edens.

The historic port played a key role in the area's development. Its location, where Rainy Lake narrows into Rainy River, was a popular destination for Native Americans and the early Voyageurs.

Jim Hanson

Have you ever dreamed of traveling the world while also being able to call Rainy Lake home? This dream is a reality for designer, Jim Hanson of Wayzata, Minnesota. In addition to traveling to beautiful places such as Versailles and the French Virgin Islands, the versatility of Hanson's career as a design consultant allows him to spend the majority of his time on Rainy Lake.
