From Aruba to Rainy Lake

Our "Meet the Locals" feature, Randy Pozniak has many opportunities to visit La Cabana Beach in Aruba but continues to reside in International Falls because of beautiful Rainy Lake. Randy enjoys some of the same outdoor activities on "Rainy" as in Aruba…well, maybe on a smaller scale. Fishing, boating, beaches and islands are just a few things both locations have to offer.

Rainy Lake is known as the "Gateway to Voyageurs National Park", a water-based park that can be explored by houseboat, motorboat, canoe and kayak in the summer months. Rainy Lake offers a peace and tranquility unknown to many, sometimes referred to as a well kept secret. Whether boating, fishing, swimming, skiing or sunbathing; simply spend a sunny day on Rainy Lake to understand the breathtaking beauty and untapped wilderness. Dine at one of the resorts overlooking the lake or enjoy a BBQ or shore lunch with friends - the possibilities are endless!

Although International Falls and Koochiching County may not be the warm sunny getaway all year like Aruba, the changing seasons allow for many recreational activities that wouldn't otherwise be possible. Fall is a beautiful time of year with the many colors of nature and hunting is a popular fall activity. Winter weather brings a whole new realm of recreation including ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and skating to name a few. As spring arrives the locals are usually ready for warm weather to arrive and the splendor that summer brings. Koochiching County has a multitude to offer because of its changing seasons.

While sometimes amidst the winter months we may be wishing we were in Aruba…we do have an untapped world of beauty right at our doorsteps! If you haven't already, come and see the wonder of Rainy Lake for yourself and while you are here stop in and say hello. We would love to hear from you!
