Greetings from International Falls and Koochiching County, gateway to Voyageurs National Park! Welcome to our first e-newsletter. As the director of the Koochiching Economic Development Authority (KEDA), it is my intention to use this communication tool to provide periodic updates on opportunities, events, and the people of Koochiching County to those individuals and businesses that may be interested in locating here.
There are a number of factors to consider when determining a location to do business (labor costs, taxation costs, utility costs, quality labor availability, transportation, etc.) and live (commute times, housing costs, schools, healthcare facilities, arts and recreation, climate, crime, etc.). I invite you to take a closer look at our area and see for yourself that when it comes to what matters most, you can find it here.
The county and the city have been working to create a competitive business environment to complement the unique beauty and natural resources that first attracted settlers to this area. Whether it's our first class international airport with daily commercial service to Minneapolis (and currently undergoing a runway expansion), the creation of three business parks, high-speed internet options, custom training programs offered through Rainy River Community College, or the creation of a Foreign Trade Zone, we're certain that we can provide the foundation for business success.
For those that have a connection to the area - and especially the beauty of Rainy Lake - and are looking for an opportunity to return, we want to hear from you. We've begun a campaign - "Your Ticket Home" - to identify former residents, or those with a connection to the area, that given the right circumstance or opportunity, would live/work in Koochiching County. We are also going to be hosting several "socials" this fall in the Twin Cities area to meet and further discuss opportunities in Koochiching County with former residents and alumni interested in coming north.
As always, feel free to contact me directly for more information…
