Cherie Serrano

Most who have visited Rainy Lake would agree the breathtaking beauty and serenity is like no other…the perfect setting for an artist.

Local artist Cherie Serrano has returned home to the awe-inspiring beauty that surrounded her as a child. Serrano, born in Ontario, Canada grew up on a hobby farm and later Taylor's Cove, her family's resort on the Canadian side of Rainy Lake. Serrano's natural talent, supportive environment and appreciation of nature inspired her love of painting at a young age. She received her first paint set at the age of thirteen and started out painting mostly landscapes.

Serrano was introduced to the notable "Wild Wings" through a contact at her parents resort. Her paintings can be found at Cabela's, Wild Wings Galleries and online at www.wildwings.com. Locally Serrano's work is displayed at Border State Bank and her husband's business, Arro of the North. Serrano has a great deal of passion for her work and has realized she is most successful when she paints what inspires her. Serrano is well known for her lake, nature and wildlife scenes but also enjoys painting and sketching portraits. The clarity of her work is incredible and could easily be mistaken for a photograph!

In October Serrano's work was exhibited at an art show at Arro of the North along with her mother and two other artists from Fort Frances. The event was well attended and helped gain local recognition of their paintings.

Serrano, her husband Dave and two young sons moved to International Falls from Detroit Lakes in April of 2007. Serrano's passion for her family is apparent with the twinkle in her eyes when she talks about her boys. She has a kind nurturing quality and enjoys painting with the boys. She loves the area and has found the community to be very welcoming, a wonderful place to raise a family surrounded by the natural beauty she was blessed with as a child.
