Koochiching Economic Development Authority Announces Land Transaction
August 15, 2006 - International Falls, MN - Members of the Koochiching Economic Development Authority (KEDA) announced today the City of International Falls purchased ten acres of riverfront property on August 7, 2006. The city's acreage is along U.S. Highway 11 East, directly west of the Pat Roche Landing and comes with roughly 500 feet of shoreline.
Ultimate Development LLC., a log home developer, initially purchased the 60-acre Boise Cascade riverfront property. Ultimate Development LLC. then completed a sale of ten acres of the property to the City of International Falls.
"The City of International Falls looks forward to the development of the land and the partnership with Ultimate Development LLC.," said International Falls City Administrator, Rodney Otterness.
The sixty-acre parcel of land purchased by Ultimate Development is the last piece of undeveloped waterfront property along Highway 11 between the City of Int'l Falls and Voyageurs National Park. The ten acre portion was purchased by the City with funds earmarked for economic development.
"Ten acres of land set out for economic development is very exciting news," said Paul Nevanen, Director of KEDA, the economic development agency for Koochiching County and International Falls in Minnesota's great North Country. "We are considering several options for the use of the land, but all options include more employment opportunities."
