Rainy Lake and Rainy River merge beneath the oldest cantilevered bridge in North America located in Ranier, Minnesota, two miles east of International Falls. That bridge serves as the connection to Fort Frances, Ontario Canada and is the busiest rail port of entry in Northern America. The small, historical village has a population of 188.

The main industry in the area is tourism, custom broker services and the Northland Fishing Tackle Inc. manufacturing facility.

A forty foot high "Voyageur" statue greets you upon entering the village. There are public parks, beaches, tennis courts, village hall, a municipal liquor store, historical bank building, post office, outdoor hockey and skating rink, and train depot.Local businesses include: Tara’s Warf, Grandma's Pantry Restaurant, Woody's Rainy Lake Resort, F. R. Woody’s Pub and Spruce Street Landing (shops and art gallery). There are two public docks, a public boat ramp, bicycle rental, boat rental and guide services available. And, just in case you have boat problems, Fred's Marine Centeris just down the block.

This community takes civic pride in their manicured public parks and the friendly atmosphere that makes Ranier a great place to live and raise a family. At nearly a century old, historic Ranier remains alive and well.
