MEET THE LOCALS – JORDAN PEARSON, OWNER ISLAND VIEW REALTY

It was ingrained in Jordan Pearson at an early age that hard work and determination were the keys to success and ultimately happiness.  The youngest of seven siblings, Jordan grew up on a hobby farm just west of International Falls and graduated from Falls High School in 2007.  While going to school he also began working at the Chocolate Moose, a local restaurant, as a server where the notion of hard work and good customer service lead to more tips and a more positive fun atmosphere.

He ventured into the real estate business in 2009 with the same attitude and outlook.  He bought his first house, fixed it up then resold it.  He enjoyed the experience (and the financial gain) and found himself doing it six more times.   At this point he felt the need to move to Duluth to a larger market.  But, after accepting a job, he realized he wasn’t ready to leave just yet.  He stayed on and opened his own real estate company – True North Realty.  Just a few months later he purchased the long-established Island View Realty in 2013 where he still loves every minute.   He wasn’t through looking at opportunities, when in 2016 he purchased the Falls Golf Course – even though he didn’t play golf or have a history with the industry.

He put his own touches and investments into the 18-hole golf course, starting with re-naming it “The River”.  In addition he re-modeled the club house to take advantage of the river view, re-vamped the club house menu, and built a unique pavilion to host events.  He’s had a successful inaugural season, albeit with a steep learning curve.

“I learned a lot in my first year owning a golf course.  There is so much to do and know.  Tom O’Connell (PGA Professional and former Falls Country Club manager) has been an asset – his years of experience and willingness to help the course succeed has carried throughout the season,” said Pearson.  “I am so thankful that we didn’t have any major hiccups and it has been a year of observation – next season will be even better.”

Pearson embodies the fearless entrepreneur but also keeps the interest of the community in his businesses and relationships.

“I am always thinking of ways to take the dollars I have and invest them into our community to grow my portfolio and the community.  In real estate and my personal investments I am proud to have brought other business people to our area and am always working at ways to find others to invest their money and time in our market.”

And while there are always challenges in running multiple businesses, especially in more rural areas, Pearson is geared for the long term.

“For me, there is only one direction, up.  I have to keep true to what’s important to me and I feel the future is good.”
